Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the SettleEasy ATLAS platform. They are written in plain language so you understand exactly what you are agreeing to, what the platform is, what it is not, and what responsibilities each party holds.

Effective 1 August 2026

01

What SettleEasy ATLAS is

SettleEasy ATLAS is a settlement intelligence platform. It helps individuals planning or navigating international relocation understand what they need to do, in what order, and who can help them do it, from pre-decision through long-term settlement.

Specifically, SettleEasy ATLAS provides:

  • Personalised settlement roadmaps generated from your profile, immigration pathway, stage, province, household, and selected topics
  • A library of settlement guides sourced from official government publications and verified by the SettleEasy team
  • A directory of verified service providers relevant to your hub and stage
  • Cost and budgeting estimates sourced from CMHC, Statistics Canada, and provincial authorities
  • A community platform connecting you with other newcomers and verified peer guides
  • A citizenship eligibility counter for Permanent Resident holders, based on information you provide
02

What SettleEasy ATLAS is not

SettleEasy ATLAS is not a licensed immigration consultant, law firm, financial adviser, or regulated professional service of any kind. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice, immigration advice, financial advice, or a recommendation to take any specific action with your immigration application, finances, or legal situation.

SettleEasy ATLAS provides structured, educational information to help you understand your options and the sequence of steps involved in settlement. It does not:

  • File immigration applications on your behalf or review your applications
  • Guarantee any immigration outcome, visa approval, or settlement result
  • Provide legal interpretation of immigration rules or regulations
  • Offer financial planning advice or make investment recommendations
  • Verify the accuracy of information you submit about your own situation
  • Provide medical, healthcare navigation, or insurance advice

For immigration advice specific to your situation, consult a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or licensed immigration lawyer. For financial advice, consult a licensed financial adviser. Always verify immigration requirements with IRCC at canada.ca/ircc before taking action.

03

Your account

To access personalised features (your roadmap, the community, peer guide matching, and the citizenship counter), you must create an account using a valid email address.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password
  • You must not share your account with another person or create accounts on behalf of others
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately

The information you enter into your profile (immigration status, PR grant date, travel log, financial goals) is used only to personalise your experience. You are responsible for ensuring the information you enter is accurate. SettleEasy ATLAS does not verify the accuracy of profile information.

04

Acceptable use

You may use SettleEasy ATLAS for your own personal settlement planning and for participating honestly in the community as a newcomer or peer guide. You may not use SettleEasy ATLAS for any of the following:

  • Soliciting money, e-transfers, payments, or financial transactions from other users
  • Advertising, promoting, or selling services (your own or any third party’s) through the platform
  • Creating accounts for the purpose of extracting user data or contact information
  • Impersonating a member of the SettleEasy team, a peer guide, or another user
  • Posting or distributing misinformation about immigration rules, visa requirements, or settlement obligations
  • Using the platform to identify, approach, or exploit vulnerable newcomers
  • Attempting to bypass or undermine the platform's moderation or safety systems
  • Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or scrape the platform
  • Creating multiple accounts to evade a moderation action or ban
  • Any use that violates applicable law or regulation
Users who attempt to exploit newcomers through the platform (scam solicitations, fraudulent service offers, or impersonation) will be permanently banned immediately and may be reported to relevant authorities.
05

Community rules

The SettleEasy ATLAS community is a space for newcomers to share experiences, ask questions, and support each other. To keep it safe and useful for everyone, the following rules apply to all community participation.

What is expected

  • Share your genuine experience and perspective, be honest about what you know and don't know
  • Be respectful of people at different stages of their journey, what felt easy to you may be overwhelming to someone else
  • Correct misinformation you encounter, gently and with a source where possible
  • Report content that appears to be a scam, solicitation, or harmful to other users

What is not permitted

  • Soliciting contact details, payments, or off-platform communication from other users
  • Posting phone numbers, email addresses, or external URLs in community threads or messages
  • Promoting paid services (your own or any third party’s) in community content
  • Harassment, threats, or targeted hostility toward any user
  • Content that discriminates based on nationality, immigration status, race, religion, gender, or any protected characteristic
  • Deliberately spreading inaccurate information about immigration requirements, timelines, or outcomes
  • Content involving or targeting minors
Community content is moderated by an automated system and reviewed by the SettleEasy team. Posts that violate these rules may be removed without notice. Repeated violations result in account suspension or permanent removal.
06

Peer guides

Peer guides are community members who have been identified by the system and confirmed by the SettleEasy team as experienced, trustworthy contributors. They are matched to newcomers based on province, immigration pathway, and background to provide peer support, sharing what they went through and what helped them.

Peer guides are not professionals. They share lived experience, not regulated advice. A guide's input, however helpful, is not a substitute for advice from a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, lawyer, financial adviser, or healthcare professional.

As a peer guide, you agree to:

  • Respond to matched newcomers within 48 hours where possible
  • Be honest about the limits of your experience, if you don't know something, say so
  • Never solicit payment, gifts, or any form of compensation from a matched user
  • Never share a matched user's contact details or personal information outside the platform
  • Never initiate contact with a user, matched newcomers initiate all threads
  • Disclose any professional or commercial relationship relevant to advice you give

Guide status is reviewed continuously by the platform. The SettleEasy team may remove guide status at any time if these commitments are not upheld or if the quality of guidance falls below the standard expected.

07

Partners and providers

The SettleEasy ATLAS partner directory lists service providers that have been verified by the SettleEasy team as genuine organisations providing legitimate services to newcomers. Verification confirms that a provider is a real organisation, it does not constitute an endorsement of their services, a guarantee of quality, or a recommendation to use any specific provider.

  • The partner directory is provided for reference. Use your own judgment when engaging with any provider.
  • Contracts, payments, and agreements with partners are entirely between you and the provider. SettleEasy ATLAS is not a party to these transactions.
  • SettleEasy ATLAS does not receive commission, referral fees, or any form of payment from partners in exchange for inclusion in the directory.
  • If you have a negative experience with a listed partner, you can report it through the platform. Repeated legitimate complaints may result in a partner's removal from the directory.
08

Content and rights

Content you post in the community (threads, replies, and reactions) remains yours. By posting it, you grant SettleEasy ATLAS a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, and moderate that content within the platform. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not sell it.

When you delete your account, community content you authored is anonymised. The text may remain visible in community threads for context, but your name and account details are removed permanently. Private messages are deleted in full.

All platform content produced by SettleEasy (guides, roadmap structures, interface text, cost data presentations, and the platform design) remains the property of SettleEasy ATLAS. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute it without written permission.

09

Cost and settlement data

Cost estimates shown on SettleEasy ATLAS (housing, food, transit, utilities) are sourced from official government publications including CMHC, Statistics Canada, and provincial transit authorities. They are updated automatically on a defined schedule and reviewed by the SettleEasy team when significant changes are detected.

Cost figures are estimates for planning purposes. They reflect published averages and may not match your actual experience, particularly for specific neighbourhoods, lifestyle choices, or unusual household situations. Always conduct your own research and seek local advice before making housing or financial commitments.

SettleEasy ATLAS does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any cost figures shown on the platform. Where data is older than the standard refresh cycle, a staleness notice is displayed. Always verify costs independently before making financial decisions.

10

Citizenship counter

The citizenship eligibility counter is a planning tool available to users with Permanent Resident status. It calculates an estimate of your accumulated days of physical presence in Canada based on information you provide: your PR grant date, protected person status if applicable, and trips you log in the travel log.

The citizenship counter is not a legal determination of citizenship eligibility. It is based entirely on information you enter. It does not account for income tax filing requirements, language test requirements, intent requirements, or any other eligibility criteria beyond physical presence. IRCC makes the final determination of eligibility when you apply.

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter into the travel log and your profile. Errors in entered data will produce an inaccurate estimate. Always verify your eligibility directly with IRCC at canada.ca before submitting a citizenship application.

The departure and return day rules used by the counter reflect IRCC's published guidelines as of the effective date of these terms. IRCC rules may change. If the rules change materially, we will update the counter and notify users. You remain responsible for verifying the current rules with IRCC.

11

Moderation

The platform operates an automated moderation system that scans all community content before and after publication. Content that triggers safety signals, including contact details, payment solicitation language, or high risk scores, is held for review or removed automatically.

The SettleEasy team reviews flagged content and makes final decisions on removals, suspensions, and permanent bans. Moderation decisions are made by humans for all permanent actions.

12

Account termination

Termination by you

You may delete your account at any time through Account Settings → Delete my account. Deletion is immediate. All personal data (your profile, roadmap, travel log, citizenship counter data, financial goals, and private messages) is permanently deleted. Community content you authored is anonymised. This action cannot be undone.

Termination by SettleEasy

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account if you breach these terms in a serious or repeated way. For permanent bans, we will notify you of the reason. Permanent ban decisions are made by the SettleEasy team, not automated systems, and are reserved for serious breaches, particularly those that harm other users.

We reserve the right to discontinue the platform with reasonable notice. If the platform is discontinued, we will provide at least 30 days notice and give you the opportunity to export your data before shutdown.

13

Liability

SettleEasy ATLAS provides information and tools to support your settlement journey. We do not guarantee any specific outcome from using the platform: immigration approvals, employment results, housing outcomes, or any other settlement result.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SettleEasy ATLAS is not liable for:

  • Any decision you make based on information provided by the platform, peer guides, or community members
  • Immigration outcomes, rejections, or delays arising from any action or inaction on your part
  • Financial loss arising from cost estimates that differ from actual expenses
  • Actions taken by peer guides or community members, they are independent users, not employees or agents of SettleEasy ATLAS
  • Service quality or outcomes from providers listed in the partner directory
  • Inaccuracies in the citizenship counter arising from information you entered incorrectly
  • Loss of data arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control
Our platform is built by people who have been through what you are going through. We want it to genuinely help you. These limitations exist not to avoid responsibility, but because your immigration journey involves decisions that only you, with appropriate professional guidance, can make.
14

Changes to these terms

When we make material changes to these terms, changes that affect your rights or obligations, what the platform does, or how moderation works, we will notify you by email and display a notice in your account for a minimum of 14 days before the changes take effect.

If you do not accept updated terms, you may delete your account before the effective date. Continuing to use SettleEasy ATLAS after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Minor clarifications, corrections, or formatting changes may be made without notice. The effective date at the top of this document always reflects the most recent revision.

15

If you have questions about these terms, want to dispute a moderation decision, or need to report a serious safety concern, contact the SettleEasy team directly. For privacy-related matters, see our Privacy Policy.
